The Mid Devon has a club run every Sunday leaving Addbrook Park at 9am. We generally cover 60 to 80 miles with a cafe stop at the half way point. We try to cater for most levels of cycling and if you feel this might be a bit too far there will always be someone who can turn back early. This may be your first ride with a group of cyclists and you'll be surprised at the difference this makes, riding together means you can cover greater distances for the same effort.
There are usually two groups on the ride, the A group catering for the faster riders looking to get in training for racing and time trials. Then the B group which takes things a bit easier. In the spring of this year we successfully ran a newcomers group every Sunday with the intention of having a club member to look after new riders. This helped encourage people new to the world of club cycling and we have gained new members because of it. We even got to the point of considering splitting groups up as we started to over load our ususal cafe stops!
If your considering coming coming out on a ride make sure you bring a drink with you and possibly some food just in case. Something like a banana or an energy bar is ideal. You should also have a spare inner tube, pump and a water proof jacket or an extra layer in case the weather turns for the worse.
After you've completed a few runs you'll have a feeling for what the club is about and so the next step is to complete a membership application form and return it to our membership secretary who will sort everything out. If you'd like more information then feel free to e-mail any one of the following addresses for details. We look forward to seeing you out on the road.
