Race Report – SW District 10 Mile TT Champs – Harrison Wood

S40/10 SW DC Champs

After the last few TT’s being cancelled due to poor weather and poor drivers I was hoping today’s would definitely be on With my season aim the GHS final just around the corner I needed to get a TT under my belt as part of the preparation Driving to the HQ it was clear that the wind was going to be a major player in the race. Number collected headed to lay by to warm up. Perky quickly gave me a pep talk whilst warming up. His wise words came in good use. Stay aero and push hard to the turn due to the headwind out. Warm up done I rode the 25 yards to the start. Started off fairly hard as too build speed into headwind before quickly settling into my rhythm. Having done several sessions above FTP recently I was planning on pushing the watts up on what I did at the Yeovil 10 went hard to the turn. And then after a fairly speed damaging turn I began the rapid return I enjoyed that part haha Finished with a 21.57 which was pleasing. Headed back to HQ to find out I was 1st under 18 by a small margin of 1 second. Perky came third only one second behind the joint winners!. At least we gathered the team prize with Mike Gratton which provided me with 2 medals to add to my cabinet Great course great event but slow conditions. The joys of testing in the South West!
